The Valero Verdict: Steve Jobs

Welcome to REWIND edition of the “The Valero Verdict” movie review. In this I will dive into one of the movies from the past and give you a quick movie review with a couple of bullet points of which I either liked or disliked. I will end the review with rating of the movie and a short overall thoughts.

On the docket today, the Biographic movie about Steve Jobs. This one was written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Danny Boyle.

  • Michael Fassbender gave one of the best performances of the last 25 years in this film. He was just truly brilliant in this film, I can’t rave enough how emotionally invested he made you into him in this role. You will not find a bigger fan of Dicaprio than me but Fassbender deserved the Oscar.
  • The rest of the cast: Kate Winslet should have won an Oscar for her role as Joanna Hoffman. In this role, she gave Jobs (Fassbender) everything she had and more. Rogen as Wozniak and Daniels as Sculley were both amazing in this as well.
  • The direction of this film was perfect. Steve Jobs in this movie was both the hero and the villain. And it absolutely blew my mind how both Boyle/Sorkin were able to make you love to hate Steve Jobs and hate to love him all at once. It was true art in the way they were able to do this throughout the film.
  • The cinematography was beautiful. I love the colors of this film, it’s so underrated because of the era of the time frame in the film but it was truly a beautiful film.

The Verdict

**** 1/2 out of ***** gavels

Steve Jobs is one of the most prominent men of this generation, having a peak into his life and the surroundings of how Apple was invented and jump started was great. The acting, the directing, the writing, the score, the entire movie was just perfection. This is easily one of the greatest movies of the last decade. The only reason I didn’t give this movie a full 5 gavels is because of the discrepancy of the films facts.

Should You See It?: If you haven’t already watched this movie, please do. Michael Fassbender gives an amazing performance as Steve Jobs and this movie is equally as good as Social Network.
