The Valero Verdict: Charlie’s Angels

Welcome to another edition of the “The Valero Verdict” movie review. In this I will give you a quick movie review with a couple of bullet points of which I either liked or disliked. I will end the review with rating of the movie and a short overall thoughts.

On the docket today, Elizabeth Banks take on the Charlie’s Angels franchise.

Plot: When a young systems engineer blows the whistle on a dangerous technology, Charlie’s Angels are called into action, putting their lives on the line to protect us all.

The Good:

Elizabeth Banks: She wrote such a great film for not just women but for little girls around the world. I think this will be a fun movie for girls to watch and realize they can be kick ass too.

Her writing for the characters is what really carried this film. She spent time developing them and it paid off in several ways.

Kristen Stewart: Has she ever had this much fun in a movie? Seriously. She was an absolute rock-star in this film.

She provided the spunk to the movie and she kicked some serious ass throughout the film.

The rest of the cast: Naomi Scott. Ella Balinska. Elizabeth Banks.

I will start with Scott/Stewart because they had absolutely AMAZING chemistry. I enjoyed how they were good while just normal dialogue and also during the fight sequences.

Banks writing for Balinska character development was great, Balinska turned your frighten little girl to a grown woman by the end of the film and it was pretty fun to watch.

The fight sequences: Look action movies these days get very lazy on their fight sequences (looking at you Terminator: Dark Fate). So I appreciated they took the time to actually make them feel more realistic and that makes for such a better movie.

The Bad:

By no means is this an Oscar worthy film, it’s just an “OK” film but that’s fine. Just enjoy this as a throw away action film where little girls can watch woman kick ass and take names.

The Verdict:

** 1/2 out of ***** gavels

I am sure I will like this more than most and that is okay. This time of the year is for a lot of Oscar style movies, so it’s fun to be able to push the “critic” portion of my mind out of the way and have a good time.

The cast looked like they had as much fun filming this as I did watching it.

So show up, eat some popcorn and enjoy the show.

Should You See It?: Yes. Support this movie. Please.
