Week 5 is in the books and we had some great performances: Romo had 506/5 TDs, Alshon Jeffery went for 10/218/1TD and Orange Julius (Julius Thomas) went for 9/122/2TDs. We also had guys like Fred Jackson, Terrence Williams and Rueben Randle step up and enter the fray. Bye week sleepers can be a very important key to winning without your top studs. Before we dig into my week 6 Sleepers, let’s take a look on how my week 5 sleepers performed.
Sleepers that I hit
Sam Bradford – He tore up the Jaguars (like he should have) for 222 yards and 3 TDs
David Wilson – He reached the endzone before getting hurt, he ended up with 16 yards and a TD
Robert Woods – The rookie out of USC was targeted 14 times and caught 5 balls for 64 yards
Tyler Eifert – Played a key role on a couple of 3rd downs for the team and ended up catching 5 balls for 53 yards.
St. Louis Rams D – They stepped up and forced 3 turnovers (1 went for a TD) and recorded 2 sacks as well.
Sleepers I Missed
Brian Hoyer – He went down with an injury and really hurt a lot of Fantasy players that put him in as their bye week QB.
Lamar Miller – I am completely fed up with him and his crappy stat lines, he rushed for 15 yards on 7 carries.
Kenbrell Thompkins – 3 catches for 16 yards, 3 CATCHES FOR 16 YARDS!!!!!!!!!
Week 6 Fantasy Football Sleepers (Bye Week: Miami & Atlanta)
Joe Flacco vs. Green Bay Packers
Even though Joe Cool didn’t find the endzone in week 5, he faces a Packers team that isn’t that great against the pass. They have given up 9 touchdowns and only have intercepted 2 balls this year. The Packers did a great job last week against the Lions in the run game and the Ravens are going to have to score points to keep up with the Packers offense. Flacco should have a big day and is a great by week filler.
Jay Cutler vs. New York Giants
The Giants are just not good at Football this year. Another week is in the books and another QB has passed all over them. They are giving up 22+ PPG to opposing QBs and have given up 2+ touchdowns to each quarterback they have faced all year. Cutler is coming off a 358 yard and 2 TD performance against the Saints, this is a Thursday Night game and he is an easy top 10 QB this week.
DeAngelo Williams vs. Minnesota Vikings
Williams only managed 69 total yards on 14 touches against the Cardinals. But this week he faces a Vikings team that is giving up 20 PPG (4 TDs as well) against opposing Fantasy RBs. Williams should have no problem finding some running room this week, he is a RB2/Flex start for this week.
Giovanni Bernard vs. Buffalo Bills
He had 13 carries for 62 yards and looked pretty good against a stout Patriots run D. The fumble really hurt him late in the game on Sunday but he is facing a Bills team that is coming off giving up 72 yards and a TD too Old Man Willis McGahee. Get him in the lineup this week as a solid sleeper Flex play.
TY Hilton vs. San Diego Chargers
Before his matchup this week against the Seahawks, I really didn’t like him. Boy did he prove me wrong, he caught 5 balls, 140 yards and 2 TDs. I loved Hilton this week before what he did and still do. If you can manage to trade for him, I would. Great start against the Chargers as they have given up over 900 yards and 7 TDs to WR this year.
Deandre Hopkins vs. St. Louis Rams
Hopkins was a non-factor in the game against the 49ers on Sunday but faces a Rams team coming off giving up 210 yards and 2 TDs to the combination of Cecil Shorts and Justin Blackmon. The Texans are going to try to rely on the run a lot in this game but I think they need to get there playmakers the ball in this game as well. If you are without the likes of Mike Wallace and Julio Jones, Hopkins will be a solid bye-week replacement.
Logan Paulsen/Fred Davis/Jordan Reed vs. Dallas Cowboys (Situation to keep an eye on for sure. You will know closer to game time on who will be the starter)
Have you seen the Cowboys against Tight Ends this year? Yeah Orange Julius and Antonio Gates combined for over 19 catches, 258 yards and 3 TDs. Paulsen has seen more targets this year, but Jordan Reed looks to be healthy and ready to go this week, I would trust Reed out of the 3 as long as he is playing on Sunday.
Brent Celek vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Celek reached the endzone for the 1st time since week 1, catching a 25 yard TD from Nick Foles in the 4th quarter. The Bucs give up an average of 11 PPG to TEs this year. If you have Clay or Tony Gonzalez on a bye this week, Celek would be a great fill in this week.
Carolina Panthers vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Panthers D was really solid in week 5. They only have up 254 yards, recorded 3 turnovers and sacked Palmer 2 times. They face a Vikings team coming off a bye but I would expect the Panthers to get to the QB. The Vikings have given up 11 sacks and have a total of 8 total turnovers on the year.
