Like It, Love It & Gotta Have It (Part 2 FF Running Backs)

I was at back at one of my favorite ice cream places in the world, Cold Stone Creamery. This time, again, the only sizes they have are Like It, Love It, and Gotta Have It. Again, when it comes to Fantasy Football there are players I like, that I love, and Gotta have at all times. To me, ice cream and football go hand in hand. I am going to review each position — who I like, who I love, and who I gotta have in the 2013 Fantasy Football season. I will also be giving you my favorite creations that I get when I go there. I recently gave you my QBs and now it’s onto my RBs.

Like it (Chocolate Delight Cheesecake – Cheesecake with Chocolate Chips, Chocolate Sprinkles and Fudge)

Jamaal Charles

He could’ve easily been on any of these lists; he is probably my favorite player heading into the 2013 Fantasy Football season. It would not surprise me to see him as the top Fantasy player this year. Andy Reid came to town as the new Head Coach and brought talented QB Alex Smith with him. Charles gets Reid who loves to use his RBs, whether in the running game or passing game, as seen with McCoy the last 4 seasons.  McCoy had 4 straight seasons with over 40 receptions as well as a monster season in 2011 when he ended up with 20 TDs.

Charles is a home run hitting back and in this system he is going to have a lot of room, which makes him even more dangerous. He just recently hurt his ankle in camp and is said to be “okay”. It is a situation worth monitoring as he’s been shut down for the rest of preseason. I think his value has gone down a bit in some drafts – which translates to — if he is healthy, you could be getting him at a great price.

Love It (Southern Pecan Pie – Butter Pecan with Pecans & Carmel)

Reggie Bush

Between Joquie Bell, Mikel LeShoure, and Kevin Smith the Lions RBs had 132 targets, 96 receptions and 778 total receiving yards. This has me giddy about Reggie Bush in 2013. I have Bush ranked in my top 15 in standard and in my top 10 of PPR. Bush is a dual threat, which makes him that much more dangerous for your fantasy team. I think he will split time with LeShoure. He will also take the goal line carries as well, but he will be the 3rd down back for this team. I don’t think it will hurt his value that much. He should average 20-25 touches a game this season. He averaged 6.1 yards per touch over the last 2 seasons. So we are about to witness a monster season from Reggie Bush. I strongly recommend drafting him high in PPR leagues as well as in Standard leagues.

Gotta Have (The Bart – Vanilla with Two Scoops of Butterfingers)

Chris Johnson

This player’s stats indicate — 11 carries/4 yards, 8 carries/17 yards, 14 carries/24 yards, 15 carries/24 yards, 19 carries/44 yards and 11 carries/28 yards, from a couple of CJ’s games from last season. 4 out of the 6 games came within the first 5 weeks of the season. He wasn’t quite the CJ2K that he hyped during training camp but he wasn’t terrible. The team had a rough time blocking and I don’t think we have seen his full potential since Mike Munchak has arrived. They spent a lot of money this offseason beefing up the Offensive line (Andy Levitre and Chance Warmack), as well as added run blocking TE in Delaine Walker. I also expect to see the Titans get CJ the ball out of the backfield and finally get him out in space. I am not sure there is a faster RB in football than Chris Johnson, especially with the improved O-line and the talk of getting him the ball out in the open field. 2013 will be the resurrection of CJ2K because he is ranked between the 10-15 range. I think with the plethora of talent at RB, it is justified but I am reaching as high as the bottom of the 1st round or the top half of the 2nd round for him. He will be good this year; YOU GOTTA HAVE him this year.
