Livestrong

I’d say right around the start of the Livestrong bracelets hitting in 2004. Is the around the time I bought my 1st bracelet. I wore it around with pride and joy thinking I helped a cause.

I had someone ask me “Now that he has been caught cheating are you going to stop wearing the bracelet?” This was my response to them.

Wearing this bracelet was never for Lance Armstrong. True, I would’ve never heard of this foundation if it wasn’t for him. But doesn’t mean I wore it solely based on his name. I bought to donate towards the foundation of helping cure cancer. As well as to share my support for the whole foundation.

The doping allegations have now come out against Mr. Armstrong. Saying that he cheated on his way to win a record 7 Tour De France. Now I understand that it is completely wrong in what he did. He should be in fact stripped of his titles if it turns out to be true.

But not one person should take away what he founded in the Livestrong foundation. He has raised $470 million dollars to support the mission to inspire and empower people affected by cancer. That folks is a lot of money and has helped millions of people.

So yes, lets judge him for being the biggest cheater in the history of sports. But don’t let it hold you back from appreciating the things he has done with the Livestrong Foundation.

Thoughts on the 2nd Debate

picture via Huffington Post

After watching the 1st debate and seeing Governor Romney just take charge of the President. I was looking forward to see how President Obama would react and see if he would come out guns blazing. Here are my thoughts on the 2nd debate that went down last night.

1. We had a much stricter moderator this time, Candy Crowley. Though people have complained for siding with the President on multiple occasions. If anyone saw the 1st debate we saw a terrible excuse of a moderator let Romney run over him. Though she came off on his side, she was much more strict than Jim Lehrer.

2. President Obama was much more confident last night. Bringing out the guns and actually at times got a bit of an attitude towards Mr. Romney. I liked his approach way more this time than last. Felt like he was more confident in what he was saying and was ready. I still believe that he was caught off guard by Romney in the last debate.

3. Romney didn’t seem as confident this time. Flubbed over his words a bit more this time than in the last debate. I thought he had a strong chance to prove that the 1st debate wasn’t a fluke. He failed to show us anything of what we saw in their 1st encounter.

4. Romney made a huge mistake in mentioning the 47% in his closing statement. By saying he would look out for 100% of america. Then the final words by our President, he came out swinging. Delivering an amazing speech that was heart-felt, sincere and true. Then he just I think finally put the nail in the coffin of Mr Romney. Mentioning the statement he made behind close doors about that 47%.

I thought Romney easily beat the President in the 1st debate. But like the 1st, President Obama back against the wall came out swinging. And clearly won this debate, the last words by the President I feel sealed his victory.

So I am keeping score, President Obama 1 – Mr Romney 1. With the last debate coming on Monday.

Make sure folks you go out and have youre voice heard. Go out and Vote every vote does in fact count. Whether you are Republican, Democrat or an Independent it is very important to vote. Also my mother once told me, “you don’t vote, you can’t complain”. I as well stand by that statement.

Argo

Going into this movie, I heard a lot of good things about it. I knew by the trailer it would be a must see event for me. Ben Affleck coming off one of my favorite movies in the Town. Easily would’ve been a let down here. But he surprised even me on how amazing this movie really was.

From the beginning all the way to the end of this movie it held my attention. Never once did I think any of this was a waste of time or just shouldn’t have been in this. Affleck show’s truly how talented of a Director he really is. I thought the movie was shot really well and visual was really awesome. It at time felt like you were there in the scene itself.

Affleck to me came off as a really cool, kind of slick character in this movie. Felt like a larger than life character that you normally get from an Action movie. But in this he didn’t need a gun or a weapon to show us how cool he was. Just a man with a script and a plan, that’s all he needed.

The last 15 minutes of this movie was probably the best scene in a movie in a long time. It had you on the edge of your seat, anticipating what was going to happen. Just a brilliant scene by all who were involved.

Honestly I would recommend this movie to anyone and everyone. I think one of the best movies I have seen this year.

4.5/5 stars

With my reviews I don’t like to spoil what happens in the movie. I will let you be a judge for yourself. Let me know what you think of this movie.

Thoughts on the Debate…

After sitting on my couch watching the debate last night I came away with a few things.

1. Romney was out for the kill to begin with, whether it was ignoring the mandated 2 minutes or trying to get in the last word. He was out for the kill last night, accomplishing it I believe as well. He came off a little too over aggressive for my taste, but I can understand why he did what he did. It was the 1st debate and he wanted to start off with a bang.

2. Romney is very arrogant and a bit pompous last night. Whether it was the interrupting the President or completely ignoring Jim Lehrer. I think it was a smart tactic but also could have affected the normal American on the fence.

3. President Obama, basically played it safe last night. Let Romney have the floor and let him preach over and over again. While I thought it was a bad move on the President’s behalf. There is still a lot of time and more debates to be had.

4. One of the highlights of the night for me was when the Jim Lehrer interrupted President Obama to tell him his time was up. The President chimed back and said “I think I had 5 seconds left before you interrupted me”. Got quite the laugh and the typical Republican stated it was very rude of him. Well if that was rude than how about the 100 times Romney went over the allotted time he had. Multiple times talking of what Jim Lehrer was saying.

5. Clearly if you were picking a winner last night it was Romney. He came out swinging and I believe caught the President off guard. Though I don’t think Romney has a chance at winning the election, the 1st debate was really good for him.

As a fan of the President and will vote for him when the time comes. After last night, It’s Romney 1 President Obama 0.
